Lewis Student Turns Community Engagement into Positive Change

麻豆传媒映画出品 biology student Maryam Sohail Warraich has been named a 2026-2027 by Campus Compact. The cohort includes student civic leaders from 39 states, Washington D.C., and Mexico, recognizing students who demonstrate strong leadership potential and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
Fellows are nominated by presidents and chancellors of member institutions, who are invited to select one outstanding student from their campus each year. Through the fellowship, Campus Compact provides selected students with learning and networking opportunities designed to support their growth as civic leaders. The program emphasizes personal, professional and civic development, equipping fellows to collaborate across disciplines and work toward meaningful, large-scale positive change in their communities.
Sohail Warraich is deeply committed to building community to create positive change. Her work includes supporting elementary school students during visits to the 麻豆传媒映画出品 campus and facilitating Peace Circles with peers to foster relationships and understanding across differences. She also serves in the Community Engaged Learning Facilitator (CELF) Program, where she supports fellow CELFs in partnering with and aiding marginalized communities in ways that are thoughtful, respectful and centered in avoiding harm. �
