Newman Civic Fellowship Program

The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes and supports student leaders who are committed to creating positive social change in their communities. Sponsored by Campus Compact, the fellowship connects student public problem-solvers across the country who are actively engaged in civic action, community partnership, and social transformation.

At Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­³öÆ·, nominated students are recognized for their leadership potential, their commitment to community engagement, and their work addressing real-world challenges in collaboration with others.

PURPOSE OF THE FELLOWSHIP

The Newman Civic Fellowship is a year-long opportunity that supports students who are actively engaged in public problem-solving and community-based leadership.

Through Campus Compact, fellows join a national network of student leaders committed to advancing equity, strengthening communities, and developing collaborative strategies for social change. The fellowship provides opportunities for reflection, skill-building, mentorship, and connection with peers across institutions who are working toward similar goals.

ELIGIBILITY

Student nominees must:

• Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at Lewis University (preference is given to undergraduate students).
• Have at least one year of their education remaining in their academic program at the time of nomination (ensuring participation for the full fellowship year, September-May).
• Commit to engaging in fellowship activities and submitting a brief reflective piece to Campus Compact during the fellowship year.
• Actively participate in fellowship programming and engagement opportunities
• Not have previously received a Newman Civic Fellowship from any institution or organization

Nomination Timeline

• January 27 – Call for nominations and application opens
• February 20 – Nominations close
